About

The story of Noctave

I started the piano at six and kept at it until I finished school. At my last recital, I played the first movement of Beethoven's Pathétique: its heavy opening chords, its anger, then that race that never stops. For a few more years I would sit at the keyboard now and then, so as not to lose my touch. Then work took up all the room, and the piano stayed closed.

Much later, I needed to find meaning again. I printed out Tchaikovsky's June Barcarolle, a piece that moves me deeply. Sitting in front of the score, I was in for a surprise: notes I used to read without thinking now resisted me. I was deciphering every bar like a forgotten language.

My job is building software and keeping it running. I thought that, for once, it could serve something more personal: helping me find my way back to music. That's where the idea of Noctave was born. Falling notes of light to find your bearings again, and a path that leads, step by step, back to the real score.

Noctave is the tool I wish I'd had that day. I'm building it for everyone who, like me, has a piano waiting for them.
